As I’m sure many of you already know by now, yesterday it was announced that WGN America have made the decision not to renew Salem for a fourth season and that when the current season ends on January 18th, that will be the end of the show. Sadly that means no more John Alden in our lives, but  I want to say a massive thank you to Shane for the three seasons of Captain John Alden he gave us, as always just another character to add to the growing list of ones we love.

I’m sure Shane will have plenty of new characters and projects for us to fall in love with, so best of luck in whatever you do next Shane!

The WGN America supernatural drama “Salem” has been canceled after three seasons, TheWrap has learned.

“We are grateful to WGN America and Fox 21 for being terrific partners and giving us free reign to create a satisfying conclusion–one we believe respects our love of storytelling and the show’s passionate fans,” series creators, writers and executive producers Brannon Braga and Adam Simon said. “We knew this would be the third and final season and were able to craft an exciting climax to Mary’s transformational saga.”

Season 3 premiered during Halloween week. The rest of the season will air in its entirety. The third season of “Salem” began with the triumph of the witches plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making the village his capital.

It starred Janet Montgomery as Mary Sibley, Shane West as Captain John Alden, Seth Gabel as Cotton Mather, Ashley Madekwe as Tituba, Tamzin Merchant as Anne Hale, Elise Eberle as Mercy Lewis, Iddo Goldberg as Isaac Walton, Joe Doyle as Baron Sebastian Marburg, Oliver Bell as Mary’s son and rocker Marilyn Manson guest starred as Thomas Dinley.

“‘Salem’ is a fantastic show that greatly contributed to our successful launch into original programming,” said Matt Cherniss, president and general manager of WGN America and Tribune Studios. “We thank Brannon, Adam, our talented cast and our partners at Fox 21, for entrusting us with their unique and remarkable vision for the world of ‘Salem.’ We also thank the fans for their loyal support of the show.”

Created and written by Braga and Simon, the series was executive produced by Braga, Simon, Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson and Prospect Park’s Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry. The series was produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.

The series, which launched in 2014, was the first original scripted series for WGN America. The network has since launched “Manhattan,” which ended after two seasons, and is prepping to air the second seasons of “Outsiders” and “Underground” in 2017. – Source

Shane will be taking part in the “Stem Cell City Race” this weekend in Ontario, Toronto. It is a charity event that brings together normal people and celebrities to team up and do challenges in aid of raising money to fund more research for the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine. An amazing cause I think you will all agree!

An adventure race like no other is taking place in Toronto on November 18-19. Picture cocktails, celebrities, and team-based challenges so “off the hook” that your friends wouldn’t believe you — if you weren’t Instagramming it in their faces all weekend.

This urban race benefits a far more important medical race already being run by the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine and a squad of unsung heroes known as stem cells.

Best of luck to everyone participating in the fund-raising and of course to Shane’s team (whoever the lucky people who get him are!)
