After those amazing on set pictures from earlier, Fox have officially released their first look portrait of Shane as Bane – check out Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive photo in our gallery!

Ready to see the official first look at Bane on Fox’s Gotham? This is much more evolved from the earlier leaked images you might have seen floating around online.  Bane is coming to the drama series in the show’s fifth and final season, and below is actor Shane West (Nikita, Salem) in costume admit some fiery destruction.

Bane will be introduced as Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army friend of Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie), who is gradually transformed into the supervillain.

With the actor’s red-rimmed-eyes and semi-transparent mask and all those cyberpunk mechanics going on there in that breastplate, the look stands as a clear contrast from the best-known version of the character, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises take as played by Tom Hardy.

Still, you might say this guy still looks like he was born in darkness?

Gotham‘s Bane was described by showrunner John Stephens as “very, very strong, and very angry … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent.” Season 5 will continue the “No Man’s Land” storyline from the comics, where Gotham City is isolated by the U.S. government from the rest of the country..

“We pick up at the top of season five, at the conclusion of No Man’s Land, Day 365,” Stephens said. “Then, we cycle backwards to day 87, three months into No Man’s Land where Jim has created his green zone and wants his reunification. We’re catching up, and for the first nine episodes, we’re always catching up to that first scene we see.” – EW.com

We finally have our first look at Shane in costume as Bane and he looks amazing! A mix between the DC comics and the 2012 Tom Hardy styled Bane, one thing is clear and that is that Shane looks every bit the terrifying villain who is about to bring Gotham to it’s knees.  Check out the article from Metro.co.uk below which has some details about what was happening on set as well as 22 HQ pictures in our gallery thanks to my amazing friend Jasper so make sure to check out his site for fellow DC actor Brenton Thwaites.

He’s easily the most terrifying villain in the DC Universe and now masked giant Bane is heading to Gotham. The fifth and final season for FOX’s DC comic series is now well underway, with Shane West being pictured in Bane’s tanked up armour signature mask on the set of Gotham – and he looks absolutely terrifying. In one shot, Bane can be seen crushing a soldier’s skull with his bare hands during a gruesome showdown, surrounded by trucks and police cars, but he couldn’t give a damn. Thankfully, in another shot, actor Shane looks pretty chill as he jokes around with Batman star Ben Mackenzie. Still, wouldn’t trust him in that outfit though. Shane’s character arrives to Gotham as Eduardo Dorrance, but later becomes Bane.

‘He’s integral to the resolution of No Man’s Land,’ showrunner John Stephens told Den of Geek. ‘While keeping elements from the books like Peña Duro and Venom … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent.’ Last week Shane managed to spark all sorts of excitement when he shared a picture of his breakfast on Twitter. Though, it wasn’t his early morning meal which had fans up in arms, but what appeared to be Bane’s glove was conveniently placed alongside his ‘brekkie’, in the first look at his famous get-up. Naturally, details of Gotham’s final outing are being kept well under wraps but during the recent panel at New York Comic Con, John confirmed the 10th and concluding episode of the comic book series would see a huge time jump set 10 years later.

Shane West just can’t help himself; just days after being (possibly) spotted in wardrobe as Bane for a cast photo, the Gotham actor has shared a teasery shot of the notorious Bat-villain’s glove.

With the fallout from “No Man’s Land” and more planned for the final season of Gotham, there is a lot for fans to look forward to, but little has been more tantalizing to long-time comic book hardcores than the idea of Gotham‘s take on Bane.

Those gloves might actually be the most accurate-to-the-comics version of Bane’s gloves yet to come to live action. While the character has appeared in Batman & Robin and The Dark Knight Rises, both of those had stylized versions of the costume that were designed to work within the movie’s world.

West’s post, though, shows a pair of gloves nearly identical to the ones Bane was wearing in Batman #497, the infamous “Breaking of the Bat” issue in which he joined the pantheon of some of Batman’s greatest villains.

Earlier this month at New York Comic Con, it was confirmed that West would in fact be playing Gotham‘s version of Bane.

West is going to be playing a character named Eduardo Dorrance, who is a former Army friend of Jim Gordon’s. He returns to the city after No Man’s Land and seems helpful at first, but Dorrance doesn’t turn out to be the man anyone expects. In the comics, Edmund Dorrance is the name of Bane’s father, King Snake, and it sounds as though Gotham will be using that name to introduce the popular Batman villain.

During a recent visit to the set of Gotham, ComicBook.com spent some time talking with executive producer John Stephens, who told us a bit about introducing Bane and the other villains of Season 5.

“I don’t think we were ever really aesthetic about putting in new characters,” Stephens said. “If we kind of wanted to do one, we would throw it in anyway, a canon character. Certainly the character that Shane [West] is coming into to play is the character that we had been waiting to use, because we know we wanted one more big, canon character who was going to come in and make a splash, and he does, entirely. But there’s other characters, too, you mentioned Man Bat of it all, or you just sit and have random episodes and say, ‘Hey, we’re going to put Magpie in this episode.’ So Magpie comes in and she does a great job. So there’s more of that sort of throughout.”

During the Gotham panel at New York Comic Con, it was revealed that the show would be putting a spin on the traditional Bane/Batman story. Rather than breaking Bruce Wayne’s back in a fight, Eduardo will actually break the back of Alfred. – ComicBook.com

In a brand new photo shared by Gotham cast member Cory Michael Smith we have gotten our first tease at what Shane’s costume will look like as the infamous Bat Breaker, Bane! Screenrant.com shared an article about the photo; including some news that was shared at New York Comic Con about Shane’s character, for those who may have missed it.

A brand new Gotham cast photo may have revealed Bane’s costume in the upcoming season of the series. Gearing up for their fifth and final season, folks behind the Fox series are pulling all the stops to ensure that the last 10 episodes of the show will be a satisfying way to cap off the prequel offering. Among the show’s biggest fan treats is the imminent arrival of one of Batman’s most memorable antagonist – Bane.

It was confirmed at this year’s New York Comic Con, where the trailer for their forthcoming season was also debuted, that Bane will be played by Shane West in Gotham season 5. And now, fans may actually have their first look at the character’s costume thanks to a brand new social media photo featuring the several cast members of the series.

The cast photo posted by Cory Michael Smith on his official Instagram account was taken after the table read for the ninth episode of the new season of Gotham. While fans of the show are already thrilled to see the actors seemingly in high spirits, West, who is at the back of the shot, is drawing interest for his unusual attire. Unlike his castmates who are dressed casually, it looks like the actor is sporting an armor type top. It’s difficult to see the entirety of his attire, but many are convinced that this is at least a piece of Bane’s upcoming costume in the show. Check out the image below:

Before it was confirmed that West will be playing Bane in Gotham‘s final season, rumor had it that he might be playing someone related to the character. Considering that the show is naming him Eduardo Dorrance – the real name of Bane’s father, King Snake, the initial confusion is understandable. Based on the narrative, Dorrance is Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) friend from the army who returns to the city after No Man’s Land. But while he seems to be the perfect ally at first, it’s eventually revealed that his motivations aren’t necessarily pure.

No release date has confirmed as of yet for Gotham season 5, but it’s expected to air sometime during the upcoming midseason.

After much speculation and teasing since the initial casting news of Shane as Edurado Durrance in the final season of Gotham, it was finally confirmed at New York Comic Con on Sunday, October 7, that Shane will indeed be playing one of the most infamous Batman villains, Bane!

It’s official, Shane West will be playing Bane in the final season of Gotham. The cast and producers announced the news during the show’s New York Comic Con panel on Sunday morning.

Showrunner John Stephens confirmed the news saying, “When you’re doing the seasons and you have this rogue’s gallery you do want to parcel it out over the years.” While it seems they’ve saved the best for last, Stephens has been asking to use Bane since Season 1, but didn’t get a yes until FOX realized the fifth season would also be the final one. He also mentioned that while Bane and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) have a similar relationship as they do in the comics, their backstories are tied together in a completely different way. Sean Pertwee jumped in to tease a fight between Bane and Alfred that will apparently end in a broken back for the erstwhile butler. – TVGuide.com

Showrunner John Stephens had nothing but praise for Shane’s portrayal of Eduardo/Bane at the panel, not something which is a surprise to fans of Shane who know he can sink his teeth into any character he is given.  But this certainly makes the wait to see Eduardo Dorrance on screen that much harder!

“You do try to want to parcel some of it out over the various years,” Stephens said. “We’d always wanted to do it and we’d always wanted to do in a way that hasn’t been told on screen. When Shane [West] comes into play him, there’s a level of authenticity,” he explained, adding that West’s performance will lead audiences to really believe he could become a “‘roided out” rage villain. “He’s awesome, and Alfred has a nice showdown with him.”

“Just between us, we have an altercation and Cat’s involved… but I get my back broken,” Pertwee revealed.

Bane famously broke Batman’s back in 1993’s Batman #497. Pertwee here is teasing that Alfred will instead be hurt by the masked villain.

West was cast as Dorrance earlier this summer as an old army associate of Jim Gordon who’ll be coming to Gotham to establish order once more after the Season 4 finale ended with the “No Man’s Land” storyline unfolding. Episode 8 of the shortened 10-episode season will be titled “I Am Bane” and presumably focus on the character. – CBR.com

Exciting news everyone! Shane has been cast in a key role for the final season of FOXs hit show, ‘Gotham‘!  He is going to be changing pace from the ass kicking good guy and this time his character is the one causing trouble.  He is said to be playing a ‘villainous recurring role’ and I for one can’t wait to see!  Check out details from the press releases below:

EXCLUSIVE: Is Gotham calling on one of Batman’s biggest foes for its swan song? Nikita alum Shane West has been tapped for a villainous recurring role on the upcoming fifth and final season of the Batman prequel drama series on Fox.

He will play Eduardo Dorrance, an old Army buddy of Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie). Having lost touch with Jim after the war, Dorrance returns to Gotham years later, leading a team of elite soldiers with the goal of helping Gordon restore order to No Man’s Land. But as the scales fall from Gordon’s eyes, he realizes Dorrance’s true intentions in Gotham are much darker and more evil than he could have believed.

There is no further information, but Eduardo Dorrance is believed to be related to a well-known villain in the Batman comic universe, Sir Edmund Dorrance, aka King Snake, who is the father of another big bad: Bane. It is conceivable that Eduardo could be Bane himself. It would make sense for Gotham to go out with a bang, bringing in iconic character(s) from the comic book franchise for its last season.

This marks West’s return to Gotham producer Warner Bros. TV, where he previously starred on Nikita and co-starred on ER. He most recently starred in WGN America‘s drama series Salem. The actor, whose feature credits include The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and A Walk to Remember, is repped by Paradigm and Management 360. – Deadline.com
